Find Window will locate and switch to a window using only a word or phrase that appears in the contents of the window. Since Illuminate uses Accessibility features to search the windows, any applications that do not support accessibility can not be searched.
Basic Use:
To bring up the Find Window window, select the Find Window menu item from the Actions menu or press the Ctrl-Shift-Spacebar keyboard shortcut.
The keyboard shortcut for Find Window can be configured in the Shortcuts pane of the Preferences window.
The way text matching is performed can be configured from the Find Window window. Click on the popup button below the search box to bring up a menu. From there, you can specify if the entered text should be contained in the window text, at the start of the text, at the end of the text, or match the text exactly. Additionally, you can specify that the text match the case you entered or not, by checking or unchecking the Ignore Case checkbox.
To find a window begin typing a word or phrase that appears in it. As you type, Find Window will start a new search for windows that contain the text you entered. The results will appear in a list below the search options, and a preview thumbnail of the individual window can be seen on the right hand side whenever a window is selected. You can navigate the search results by using the up and down arrow keys while focus remains in the search box.
Finally, to activate the desired window, select it in the search results and press Return, or double click it. The Find Window window will dismiss, and the selected window will be brought frontmost.
