See the following paragraph for a step-by-step description on how to create a single valid barcode.
Step
1: Select the Barcode type
Select from the list the barcode type you want to create. Selecting a barcode
type from the list will also show some facts about this type at the bottom of
the application's window.
Step 2: Enter the number or text you want to display as a barcode
In the example above the numbers "401234567890" were entered. This data lies within the specifications of the selected type: Code EAN 13, twelve digits plus checksum (which the "Frontend" will calculate for you) so a valid barcode is generated and displayed. Also the converted string ("4<AMCDPQ=ghijab>") is displayed. Going back to our example with Apple Works this is the string you would have to enter to create a valid barcode. If the data you enter in the "Frontend" does not lie within the specifications of the selected barcode type, the fields for "Converted String" and "Barcode" will remain empty.
Step 3: Getting the converted string into your application
Click "Copy
To Clipboard". In your application paste the string into your document
(usually with Edit->Paste), select it and change the font to the barcode
type you specified. Note: The "Frontend" will also copy the
necessary font info to the pasteboard. In applications aware of this, like the
Apple Works word processor, the font will then be changed automatically, another
time saver.
You may also print the generated code from within the frontend for testing or
evaluation purposes.
For
technical reasons one font can display more than one barcode type. Here's a
list of the fonts installed and the barcode types they can display:
